Studio MONO Reviving InSomnia

After being sent back to the drawing boards following its 2013 Kickstarter cancellation, Studio MONO is ready to get people behind InSomnia. Following intensive tweaks and rework of their unique Dieselpunk RPG, this multinational independent developer is attempting to increase their potential for success with simultaneous Steam Greenlight and Kickstarter campaigns. With both set to begin on June 23rd, Studio MONO is getting ahead of the game by releasing some early information regarding the current state of InSomnia.

When comparing their 2013 trailer to its revamped counterpart, it is abundantly clear that Studio MONO has put a massive amount of work and polish into InSomnia. The new gameplay footage displays a much more representative look into what players can expect to see and do within the game.

New trailer:

Set aboard a derelict space station, InSomnia will blend WWI and WWII imagery within a futuristic, apocalyptic setting. Boasting a brooding soundtrack and deeply atmospheric visuals, Studio MONO is hoping to provide intense immersion and a captivating setting that will keep players on the edge of their seats throughout its 15+ hour campaign.

InSomnia’s combat system will infuse real-time tactical elements that hearken back to the early days of isometric role-playing games like Fallout and Diablo. But don’t think that this is purely an exercise in nostalgia as Studio MONO is incorporating a ton of mechanics to set itself apart from the pack.  Level-free character progression, randomly generated side missions, deep crafting systems, and world changes based on player interactions are just a few of the interesting steps being taken in InSomnia.

There’s plenty more information and footage on their official website, but I can definitely say that this game has piqued my interests. Only time will tell if this game will ever see the light of day, but here’s hoping that Studio MONO’s hard work will pay off.
